Entry IV — Carnelian Keeper

Entry IV — Carnelian Keeper

[Entry IV]

Forged in the desert’s deepest heat, the Carnelian Keeper carries the memory of steady fire—courage held in calm, passion without destruction. It is said those who wear it walk with the warmth of purpose, protected from the chill of doubt.

Night had fallen heavy, but the sands still glowed beneath; heat stored like memory. The Dreamwalker felt the pulse long before he saw the light. A flicker beneath the dunes, rising like a heartbeat.

He followed it to a hollow carved by wind, where a pendant hung in the air; suspended by nothing, burning from within. Carnelian, silver-framed, alive.

When he reached for it, the glow softened, as though recognizing something ancient in his touch. It did not scorch. It steadied. The warmth sank into his hands, into his pulse, until the two beats became one.

A whisper followed, gentle as a breath between heartbeats: “Keep the fire, but do not let it consume you.”

The Dreamwalker fastened the pendant around his neck.

Its warmth lingered; neither flame nor light, but a living ember of will. As he walked onward, the cold of night retreated, and even the stars seemed to burn closer, drawn to the rhythm of the keeper’s heart.
